Words from the Founder:
Hi Supporters,

I would like to thank you all for taking the time to read our newsletter. We continue to offer SAT/ACT Test prep to local high school students from Middleton, Blake, and Jefferson High School in Tampa, FL every Saturday.  We also attended an educational fair through Hillsborough County Public Schools and I am proud to announce that we have signed an agreement with two facilities (PACE Center for Girls & Hillsborough HS) to provide GED Test Prep & Tutoring Services.  Our vision is to promote SUCCESS “One child at a time”.

GRAY’S SPOTLIGHT feature this month is Project Promise; an organization that provides opportunity & promise to at-risk/delinquent youth.  The services they provide include mentoring, intervention, and educational support in collaboration with the Federal Title I Student Intervention and Dropout Prevention Program. Project Promise in conjunction with the vision of the GRAYS Project, understands the importance of educating our youth and preparing them for college or a career. Project Promise
The Starfish Story
by Loren Eisley
One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed
a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean.
Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?”
The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean.~
The surf is up and the tide is going out.~ If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.”
“Son,” the man said, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish?~
You can’t make a difference!”
After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish,
and threw it back into the surf.~ Then, smiling at the man, he said…”
I made a difference for that one.
Thanks

Gray's Giving Knowledge, Getting access, Gaining success!

Gray's Giving Knowledge, Getting access, Gaining success! Each week the Grays' Project Inc. posts stories from several leading on-line Education publications, keeping you in the loop and up to date.  Gray's Project Inc. understands the importance of staying informed and up to date with the latest in education, and believes the key to success is helping one another.  There is power in knowledge, and knowledge comes through education and the ability to access that education. As many of us are aware the ability to access information creates a hierarchy in society benefitting those who have access, limiting those who do not. Unfortunately many people who have access to these resources fail to understand why people are unable to access what is so readily available. Giving Knowledge: Consider this: how do you ask for something you are not familiar with? How do you get something you do not know exists?  How can you access something if you lack the tools and resources? The sys

Redesigning schools

Redesigning Schools to Extend Excellent Teachers’ Reach in Share 0 Print page How can every student have excellent teachers every year? Extending the reach of excellent teachers requires schools to redesign jobs, use technology in new ways, or both.   Here we present new school models to get the job done. See a table of school models , with links to more detail. Go to detailed school models . The models must meet our Reach Extension Principles, for whole schools or individual courses. Reach Extension Principles Explicitly and rigorously aim to: Reach more children successfully with excellent teachers who produce high-growth learning and more. Pay excellent teachers—and eventually all teachers—far more for reaching more students. Achieve permanent financial sustainability , after transition, by funding new models within regular budgets. Include roles that develop other teachers, and school-hour planning and collaboration time , so all teachers can pr
